The wife and I were wondering about this the other day. I saw this thing on the DIY channel about this greenhouse that these guys built. It had this built in thing which opened it up. On top of the roof there were these vents that looked like shutters. It was built with this hydraulically activated vanes which were attached to a thermocouple. I think that is what is called. At any rate you can not let the greenhouse just heat up endlessly, although it has to remain a high temperature. So at some point these things open up and you get air in the greenhouse to cool it down. We were thinking about using the same idea to heat a house though. The idea iis pretty simple. You would put a greenhouse on the outside of the house. Read the rest of this entry »

A couple of years back, I moved back to Asheville, after spending four years in the city, while I was in college. During my time in college, I fell in love with the town and its weather. Anyway, I bought a house, and I am now trying to get my property in better shape. There are some trees I would like to have removed, and I am going to hire a company that does tree service in asheville nc soon. I would like to look for some recommendations for a tree service to hire in the area.

I want to make sure that I am hiring someone with a lot of experience, who will be able to do a high quality job. I am also going to make sure that I hire someone that is fully insured, and bonded, for doing the type of work that will be involved. That being said, it would still be nice to find a cheap price on having this work done, because I know that having trees removed can get expensive very quickly.

I do not see much of an alternative though, as there are some large trees located near my house, that really worry me. I feel that some of them could be in danger of falling over on the house. I am not sure how likely that is, but I will talk to the tree company that I hire, and try to get their opinion on which trees need to be removed. There are also a lot of trees in my yard that have dead limbs in them. Dead limbs are a major hazard, as they can fall without warning, and they could potentially kill someone, if someone happened to be unlucky enough to be under the tree, when the limb decided to fall.

This is an idea my brother in law and I are thinking about. We have bought us a piece of land on Smith Mountain Lake, not that far from the marina and the hotel at Indian Point. We are thinking about building a small house there, with the idea being that you would put in a boathouse and a garage. Of course We are not sure how hard it would be to rent it out when we were not using it, but I am thinking about the added costs. Like for instance direct tv packages would be one thing. I am moving back to my home town of Irving, Texas and I just completed the work that was involved in buying a house. It was my first purchase of a house in my life, but it was a worthwhile investment. I am glad that I went ahead and did it now, as opposed to waiting until later, and renting an apartment in the mean time. I need to learn about first choice power in irving. I was told that I should get my power through them, but I am not going to just blindly accept that suggestion, and rather, I would like to look into it a bit, before making any sort of decision on the matter.

It could be a good service for me to use, but I really don’t know. Read the rest of this entry »

They upped the cost of living in the dorm facilities at college. It was more than what the apartments cost about eight blocks away. I could run that or take my bicycle without a problem. I figured up the cost for utilities, rent and other expenses. It was a whole lot cheaper to live off of the campus. I rented an apartment just in time. Being full time year round got me a better rate. Then I started looking for things such as cheap internet service. I figured I would miss the super fast Internet service at the college, but once I got connected in my apartment, I did not miss it. I got a low price on a bundled deal for TV, phone and Internet service for a year. I could not pass it up. After the year is up, there will be other options out there for me. You have to be a savvy shopper, especially if you are a college student who can only work part time during your semesters. I take classes year round. I go home for a few days during the major holidays, but other than that, I am here. Read the rest of this entry »
